A word about VAT (Value Added Tax)
Buying your Resmed products VAT free
Please note that all prices on the Resmed Online Shop already include VAT. If you qualify for VAT relief, you must claim this when reviewing the items in Your Cart and before you click on the ‘Order’ button. We are unable to refund any VAT paid in error. If you are unsure whether you qualify for VAT relief, please contact us before placing your order: we will be happy to assist.
Can I buy specific products without paying VAT?
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) allow some goods and services to be purchased VAT free. This includes certain products in the Resmed Online Shop that have been specifically designed for use by disabled or chronically sick people.
How do I claim VAT relief for my purchases in the Resmed Online Shop?
There is a checkbox next to each item in Your Cart. To claim VAT relief, tick the box next to every item. VAT will be removed from all eligible items. Please note that the checkbox will not appear if an item is not eligible for VAT relief.
Please read the section below to learn whether or not you are entitled to buy these products without paying VAT.
I am not registered as disabled. Am I entitled to VAT relief?
For the purposes of VAT, HMRC use the word ‘disabled’ to refer to anyone who has a disability and/or is chronically sick. Obstructive sleep apnoea is an example of a chronic sickness. You do not need to be formally registered as ‘disabled’ to be entitled to VAT relief.
You can claim VAT relief if you are disabled or chronically sick and you are buying a product that relates to your disability or chronic sickness.
If you are buying a product for someone else, you can claim VAT relief if the person who will be using the product is disabled or chronically sick and the product(s) relates to the person’s disability or chronic sickness.
In all cases, the product must only be used for personal and domestic purposes, not business purposes.
