The importance of regularly replacing AirMini CPAP equipment

Using CPAP therapy every night can give you more energy to do the things you love. But nightly use will wear out your disposable therapy components like your mask, tubing and filters. Even with consistent cleaning, facial oils and debris can cause your mask parts to degrade.

Regularly replacing your CPAP therapy components can help ensure that every night with your therapy is as comfortable and effective as the first night.

When to clean your AirMini CPAP equipment

To get the best possible therapy for your sleep apnea, it’s important to properly clean your CPAP equipment on a regular basis including the mask, air tubing and machine.

We suggest that you use the following as a guideline for when to clean your AirMini CPAP equipment. For further instructions, please refer to your AirMini user guide.

Replacing AirMini equipment

Did you know? 6 in 10 CPAP users said they slept better after replacing their supplies.

Regularly inspect your equipment

With nightly use, the components of your CPAP equipment can wear out, which can make your therapy less effective. Inspecting your equipment each week can help you assess when components need to be replaced.

Here are things to look for when inspecting your equipment:

Discoloration

Check your mask cushion or nasal pillows for cracks, tears or discoloration. Mask cushions collect oil and bacteria, even with daily cleaning. This can lead to air leaks and facial irritation.

Cracks

Check air tubing for small holes or tears, which may cause air leaks and prevent you from receiving your prescribed therapy setting.

Overstretching

Look for overstretching in the headgear, which is a sign of inelasticity. It can also collect bacteria from sweat and moisture.

Filter deterioration

Look for discoloration, holes or dust build up in your AirMini machine filter, which may wear out or become clogged. This can limit protection against airborne particles, dust, pet fur and bacteria in your therapy airflow.

Please refer to your ResMed user guide for specific instructions.

Why should I replace my AirMini equipment?

You may be sleeping better since you started CPAP therapy, but if your mask parts are wearing down, you probably aren’t sleeping as well as you could.

A recent survey showed that 6 out of 10 people who frequently replace their CPAP mask parts said they got a better night’s sleep after replacement. They also sleep an average 24 minutes longer each night. A higher percentage of frequent replacers also said they use their CPAP every night compared to those who wait a year or more to replace their mask parts.
